Hi there, I’m Jeanette Brown, creator of Reset Your Life Compass. I’ve seen many people striving to be the best version of themselves, and it’s not as daunting as it seems.
Living the best life starts with being the best person you can be. It’s about self-improvement and growth, but also about understanding and accepting who you are.
In this journey, I’ve identified eight simple but powerful ways that can help you become the best person you can be. I believe that these steps are key to unlocking your full potential.
Ready for a positive change?
1) Embrace change
Change is inevitable, it’s a part of life. And let me tell you, once you start embracing it instead of fearing it, you pave the way to a more fulfilling life.
Many people are hesitant to welcome change, often because it’s tied to the unknown. But here’s a secret: growth and transformation happen outside your comfort zone.
Just think about a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly. It’s not an easy process, but it’s necessary for the butterfly to spread its wings and fly.
So, next time you face a challenging situation or an unexpected change, remember, it’s your opportunity to grow and become the person you truly want to be.
Don’t shy away from change, embrace it. After all, it’s the first step in becoming the best version of yourself.
2) Understand yourself and your core values
As Shakespeare famously said, “This above all: to thine own self be true.” You see, understanding who you are and what you value most is pivotal in your journey to becoming the best person you can be.
That’s why I created the Defining Your Values Exercise. It’s a tool designed to help you identify your core values and understand what truly matters to you.
Remember, knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom. So take some time out, work on this exercise and get in touch with your inner self. It’s a step closer to becoming the best version of yourself.
3) Set meaningful goals
Let’s be raw and honest here: wandering aimlessly through life won’t get you anywhere. Becoming the best version of yourself requires direction, and that’s where setting meaningful goals comes into play.
Goals give us a sense of purpose and a roadmap to follow. But it’s not about setting random goals; it’s about setting goals that align with your values and aspirations, goals that truly mean something to you.
Think about what you want to achieve in life. Is it a healthier lifestyle? A fulfilling career? A more balanced life? Whatever it is, set clear, specific and achievable goals.
Remember, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. So take that step today, set your goals, and start working towards becoming the person you want to be.
4) Take control of your life’s direction
Let’s cut to the chase: you are the captain of your ship, the master of your fate. No one else can steer your life in the direction you want except for you.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of blaming circumstances or other people for where you are in life. But the raw truth is that you have more control than you think.
You decide how to react to challenges, how to spend your time, who to surround yourself with, and what goals to pursue. These decisions ultimately shape your life’s path.

5) Journal your journey
Journaling isn’t just about documenting your day-to-day life. It’s a powerful tool for self-reflection, for understanding your thoughts and emotions, and for tracking your personal growth.
When we journal, we give ourselves the space to express our feelings freely and honestly. We can identify patterns, celebrate progress, and gain clarity on our goals and dreams.
In fact, journaling is so integral to personal development that I’ve made it a key part of my course, Reset Your Life Compass.
So grab a pen and start writing. Let your thoughts flow freely. You’ll be amazed at the insights you’ll glean from your own words. Plus, you’re creating a record of your journey towards becoming the best person you can be. How cool is that?
6) Change your habits
Let’s face it, we are what we repeatedly do. Our habits shape our lives more than we realize, and if you want to become the best person you can be, you’ll need to examine them closely.
Are your current habits helping you reach your goals? Or are they holding you back?
Success doesn’t come from a single huge decision, but from small daily actions that add up over time. Changing a habit isn’t easy, and it doesn’t happen overnight. But with determination, consistency, and patience, it’s entirely possible.
Start by identifying one habit you’d like to change. Then take small steps every day to shift it in a positive direction. It might feel challenging at first, but trust me, the payoff is worth it.
7) Discover your purpose
As the great Mark Twain once said, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” Finding your purpose is more than just deciding on a career path or setting goals. It’s about discovering what truly drives you, what makes you feel alive.
When you live with purpose, you live with passion. You have a reason to get up in the morning and a motivation to overcome obstacles.
But finding your purpose isn’t always easy. It can be a journey full of self-discovery and introspection. But let’s be honest here: It’s one of the most rewarding journeys you’ll ever embark on.
8) Live authentically
This might sound counterintuitive, but becoming the best person you can be isn’t about becoming someone else. It’s about being the most authentic version of you.
In a world that often pressures us to fit into certain molds, living authentically can be a challenge. But remember, you’re not here to live up to others’ expectations. You’re here to be you.
Living authentically means embracing your strengths and weaknesses, expressing your thoughts and feelings honestly, and pursuing your passions fearlessly.
It’s about being true to yourself, even when it’s uncomfortable or unpopular. Because at the end of the day, there’s no better person you can be than the most authentic version of you.
And there you have it – eight ways to become the best person you can be. Remember, this journey is all about growth, authenticity, and self-discovery. It’s about embracing change, setting meaningful goals, and living with purpose.
